sf climate hardware hack

24hr to build things that matter

april 22-23

tools of choice

climate change is a physical problem that needs physical solutions. you'll have 24 hours to make a first prototype.

1. ai + robotics

what can new llm models mean for new applications in the circular economy?

ex. automating sorting in recycling, reclaiming lumber

2. 3-d printing

what does localized and rapid production mean for decarbonizing supply chains? or how can environments adapt to preserve biodiversity?

ex. coral reeves, bee hives, wind turbine maintenance

3. internet of things + smart devices

how can smart devices help make homes, buildings, and cities greener or more robust?

ex. wildfire detection, smart grid

tackling problems that matter

rather than moonshots that solve fantastic problems 10 years out, we'll be looking at making earthshots level bets for problems that should have been addressed in the last 10 years and need to be solved now.

sustainable homes

electrifying everthing, heat pumps, better insulation

cleaner buildings

electrifying everthing, heat pumps, better insulation

greener cities

transportation, air quality control

zero waste

upcycling, industrial processing, new circular solutions

agriculture

precision based robotics

renewables

additive part manufacturing, smart monitoring

disaster relief

monitoring, response, or adaptaion
